Here is a picture of a gorgeous antique horse shoe pendant made with a platinum top, 18k yellow gold back and completely set with "Old Mine" diamonds. The pendant was handmade around 1900. The maker did not leave a maker's mark. This pendant measures about 1 1/2 inches tall. The chain is newer, as the this horse shoe would have had a bar pin on the back.
Old mine diamonds from this era are not exactly round, and they are not cut perfectly. Each diamond has it's own unique personality. One of the nice things about this pendant is that these diamonds are matched for color and clarity. These are "Near Colorless" diamonds and VS1 to VS2 in clarity (Very Slight). The total diamond weight is 4.00 carats, and the value is approximately $12,000.00.
